As part of our multi-year, multi-phase redesign initiative for our workflow management solutions, Aries Systems released a new main navigation bar (“NarBar”) for Editorial Manager^® and ProduXion Manager^® in December 2021. The updated NavBar includes both user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) enhancements, designed to provide an intuitive, clean, and user-friendly navigation experience. The new design features a fresh and modern look with updated colors, typefaces, and spacing that adhere to relevant design and accessibility standards.

In response to user feedback, Aries will be introducing additional styling capabilities in which certain display elements of the navigation bar banner can be set to the journal’s preference! With this enhancement, System Administrators with proper permissions have the option to edit the journal title text, select one of two banner color options (blue or light grey), and upload a 40x40px logo to the NavBar banner. System Administrators may preview the changes before applying them to the site.

IMPORTANT DATES: RELEASE & ACTIVATION

On December 13, 2021, the updated NavBar was released in an “off” state to all EM/PM sites by default, making it optionally available for publications using EM/PM. On August 2, 2022, the new styling enhancement for the updated NavBar will become available as part of the EM/PM 22.08 software release. To enable the redesigned NavBar during this early-activation period, publications should contact their Aries Account Coordinator.

Effective September 14, 2022, the optional activation period will end and the new NavBar will be automatically enabled for all remaining EM/PM sites. Thereafter, the original navigation bar will no longer be available. Applying styling changes, such as uploading a logo, can be made at any time – either before or after the auto-activation date!

Once the styling enhancement is made available, journal System Administrators can preview the redesigned navigation bar on their EM/PM site(s) even before it is activated by their Aries Account Coordinator.
