Meet the Aries Team: Dil Kizghin, Quality Engineer
Tell us a little about yourself – how long have you been working for Aries? What did you do before joining Aries?
I am very happy to say that I am celebrating my one-year anniversary at Aries this month! Prior to joining Aries, I worked at Department of Commerce and other companies.
How have your previous roles helped you in your current position?
My previous experience and knowledge of computer science in graduate school paved the way for success in my current position.
How do you collaborate with other departments within Aries?
To deliver a high-quality product, not only do we need to closely collaborate with members within our own team, but other teams cross-departmentally as well. Frequently communicating via slack channels, emails, and direct video calls with the Aries Engineering and Product Management teams is essential for us as Quality Engineers.
Tell me about your department and the people you work most closely with.
The Aries Quality Engineering team has the great responsibility of striving to deliver a high-quality and bug-free build on every release for Editorial Manager and ProduXion Manager. As we have thousands of publications relying our products, this is a top priority for Aries. I truly appreciate those on our team who constantly pour their hard work and energy into testing different specifications for the newest features and verifying bug-fixes in the best interest of the company and the customer.
Describe your typical workday.
My day starts with checking emails in the morning and moving onto scheduled tasks. In the event there is an urgent update from my manager or team members, I would put my lower priority tasks on hold and start assisting right away. During our team stand-up which is takes place mid-morning, we all share updates on the current progress of work and discuss any roadblocks. At the beginning of every sprint, when stories and bug-fixes are not ready to test, I work on the automation of feature test and regression test as well as configure sites and write test plans. Once either stories or bug-fixes are ready, I just verify those as early possible. I also attend all scrum ceremonies and administrative meetings.
What do you most enjoy about your job? What do you enjoy most about working for Aries?
Finding a bug always gives me great pleasure! I enjoy Aries’ culture and working with my team members in the Quality Engineering department.
What are you currently reading, listening to, or watching?
I don’t watch TV, but I enjoy reading scientific books and listening to light music.
Tell me about some of your hobbies/interests outside of work.
I like cooking and spending time with my family members.
