Last month, SSP hosted a webinar on funder mandates, and what publishers can do to help researchers comply.

One simple and practical suggestion made was to assign DOIs at acceptance rather than publication, giving the article it’s persistent identifier- and funders their visibility- earlier on in the publication process.

Assigning DOI’s upon acceptance is a simple configuration change in Editorial Manager. This is just one example of the many workflow configuration options that can be used to make workflows more author-friendly!
