Editorial Manager Version 2.0 Makes Further Advances, Delivers New Features
June 1, 2003, North Andover, MA, USA – Aries Systems Corporation today announced the release of Editorial Manager Version 2.0. Editorial Manager is the on-line manuscript submission and tracking system that has been chosen by more than 170 journals and leading scientific publishers.
EM 2.0 includes a package of submission enhancements that further empower journal offices to tailor the submission experience for their authors. For example, journal offices can dynamically modify any of the instructional text that appears during each of the submission steps. Article types and Sections/Categories can be enabled for temporary periods, for example when a journal wishes to publish a special issue.
“Our journal requires 100% on-line submission so we like the ability to disable the off-line submission option,” said Nancy Medina, Director of the Annals of Emergency Medicine – one of the first journals to use EM and beta test site for 2.0. “Most importantly, we appreciate the excellent customer service we continue to receive through system upgrades from the entire Aries team,” she added.
EM 2.0 also facilitates the extraction of metadata and author source files from EM into third-party production tracking systems by the use of journal-customized “Transmittal Forms”. This enhancement greatly reduces the effort required to process accepted manuscripts and helps reduce the time and cost to publish an article.
Richard Wynne, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, commented, “In the fast-maturing market for on-line manuscript systems, it is important that vendors demonstrate the ability to relentlessly upgrade their software without breaking compatibility with earlier releases. This will be the sixth major release of EM in two years and as with prior releases, the upgrade process is seamless for the journal office and does not require a data reload.”
