Did You Know? Editorial Manager and Bibliographic Searches

Question-markDid you know that you can integrate Editorial Manager with a much wider range of Bibliographic databases than just Google Scholar and PubMed? It only takes a few minutes to customize manuscript links to your journal’s favorite databases such as: GenBank, arXiv, Highwire, Scopus, Springer Link, OVID, ScholarUniverse, MathSciNet and dozens more! These links automatically merge data elements (such as author names, titles, keywords, etc.) from the Editorial Manager manuscript record, thereby generating better search results to help find reviewers or check on authors. A clear example of the superior capabilities of Editorial Manager! For questions about configuring bibliographic searches, please contact Aries’ Customer Service Department.

Version 8.0 Goes to General Release in August

FireworksAries is pleased to announce that following Beta Testing and Gamma deployment to 11 journals, Editorial Manager and Preprint Manager Version 8.0 will go to general release in the last week of August. The release is packed with new features, and does not require any system down-time to deploy. Journals will be upgraded incrementally to minimize user disruption. Examples of new features include: graphical reporting, author resolver, enhanced editor attachments, secondary fields (useful for international journals), new workflow options and automated correction of manuscript references using data from PubMed and Crossref. If you would like to be notified of the launch and receive a copy of the release notes, please contact Aries’ Customer Service Department.

Chapingo University – First Editorial Manager Customer in Mexico!

Successful 2010 EMUG Meeting

EMUG2010The Editorial Manager User Group (EMUG) Meeting held in June of 2010 attracted more than 100 participants to Cambridge, MA. The ever-popular “feature workshop” generated many insightful comments and suggestions that are essential to the Aries development process. Attendees especially praised EM’s updated reporting functionality which allows journal staff to easily edit and save standard reports, including online graphs, charts, and gauges. “The new reporting functions and author verification feature are both wonderful” said Melissa Callanan, Review Systems Coordinator, at Anestehesia & Analgesia. Aries extends its thanks to such an engaged and collaborative user community. We hope to see you next year when EMUG returns to the same location in Cambridge on June 23-24, 2011.

PLoS ONE Goes Live with Editorial Manager

PLoS-ONEAries is pleased to announce that the Public Library of Science has gone live with Editorial Manager for its PLoS ONE publication, with additional PLoS publications to follow in the coming months. The system launch in July, 2010 was the result of close collaboration between the Aries and PLoS teams. Commenting on the project, Nikolais Linsteadt, Publishing Systems Analyst at PLoS, said “Editorial Manager offers additional standardization across journals and better control over settings and roles; and Preprint Manager enables full integration and control of the production process”. Lyndon Holmes, President and founder of Aries added: “Editorial Manger is the world’s most configurable peer review system and we are delighted to see it applied to open access workflows pioneered by the Public Library of Science. PLoS ONEreceives a large number of submissions covering a broad range of subjects, so Editorial Manager helps administer matching manuscripts to appropriate external editors.” See the PLoS announcement: http://everyone.plos.org.
