Did you know? Reviewer Forms are now even more agile

Question-markIn the recent Version 9.0 release, several enhancements provide even more Reviewer Form flexibility. Here’s what’s new:

  • Comment boxes can optionally be suppressed so that the form only displays journal-confirmed questions.
  • Custom review questions can be configured with a minimum character count requirement – ideal for forcing a response from reviewers!
  • The response boxes for ‘Yes/No/Text’ and ‘Notes’ fields now auto-expand as reviewers type more than 25 lines of text.
  • Reviewer instructions can be configured to display “inline”, rather than via the ‘Reviewer Instructions’ button.

If you would like help configuring reviewer forms, please contact your Aries Account Coordinator, who will be happy to assist.

Participate in the Editorial Manager and Preprint Manager Version 9.1 beta program

pen-checkmarkEditorial Manager (EM) and Preprint Manager (PM) 9.1 are now in beta, and we need a few additional test volunteers. As a beta tester, you will be able to preview new 9.1 features, such as: assign entire Editor chain on revision, re-invite Editor who had declined, integration of Author’s suggested Reviewers into Reviewer search function, import select due dates into Outlook Calendar, and others.

As a beta tester you’ll see first-hand how these features will work on your site without impacting live data, and your feedback will help us prepare the product for final release. For more information or to volunteer, email Betsy Hopkins, Aries Business Systems Analyst, at bhopkins@ariessys.com.

Use case survey for EM development of ORCID linking compatibility

ORCID-OpenResearcher-ContributorID-LogoAs Aries begins work with the first ORCID code release, we ask you to send us sample scenarios and suggestions. Incorporating “use cases” from multiple EM customer perspectives will help target our development efforts. Following are some questions to consider:

  • Should EM facilitate claiming an ORCID by a user?
  • Would you like to encourage/mandate entry of author and/or co-author ORCIDs?
  • Would you like EM to use ORCID as the basis of “single sign-on”?
  • Should the entry of an ORCID automate the completion of the EM people record?
  • Should EM automatically, periodically update a person’s record in EM by polling ORCID for new contact data?
  • Should an authorized editor be able to remove/edit a user’s confirmed ORCID in EM?
  • Should we be considering other identifiers such as ISNI?
Please send your questions and comments to marketing@ariessys.com. We appreciate your input.

EEMUG draws EM and PM users from Europe and beyond

EEMUG2011_photocollageThe 2011 Editorial Manager and Preprint Manager User Group Meetings, European edition, brought together developers and end-users for productive knowledge sharing, creative thinking, and networking. We thank all those who participated in this mutually-rewarding gathering!

New customers reflect the global nature of scholarly publishing

globeAries Systems continues to build new customer relationships with a wide range of publishers and organizations, some of which are recognized for extensive or global reach: Policy Press, Ammons Scientific, Sultan Qaboos University Medical Journal (SQUMJ), Jornal Brasileiro de Psiquiatria, the Royal College of Nursing and the California Dental Association.

The scholarly publishing world becomes increasingly interconnected as geographic and language barriers are overcome. With Editorial Manager and Preprint Manager, authors, editors, reviewers, and production staff have world-wide access to manuscript workflow via the Web.

Welcome to these and the dozens of other organizations that have selected Editorial Manager in 2011.
