Default editor chains can be configured by article type. This results in a big time saving because with a single click journal staff can assign manuscripts to a chain of several editors (e.g. Editor in Chief, Section Editor and Academic Editor). Selections and letter text can be modified on-the-fly if needed for a particular manuscript.
