ChemDraw, developed by CambridgeSoft, creates correct chemical structure images from chemical names, and gives IUPAC names for structures. When an author submits a manuscript as a Word document with ChemDraw files embedded, Editorial Manager automatically converts the submission to a PDF file.

Alternatively, native ChemDraw files outside of Word can also be uploaded into EM, however, they are not converted to PDF. They are stored in the “file inventory” for convenient download by clicking links in the PDF.
