Cambridge University Press journal, Psychological Medicine, required an electronic submission and peer-review system capable of supporting a high volume of traffic and two separate editorial offices. With the UK and US editorial offices being responsible for specific geographic regions and review of certain specific sub-disciplines, and the Editors having preferred established systems of work in place, the system had to be highly configurable.
Editorial Manager was chosen for its flexible workflow solutions and project management, and Aries and Cambridge University Press worked together to make sure the system is configured to meet the needs of the editorial team and the authors submitting to the journal. The primary reason for moving to electronic submission and review was a rapidly increasing submission rate and the need to create an efficient updated editorial system for peer review. The system will offer authors the best possible service, keep them informed of progress throughout the review process, and offer new features as Aries continues to develop Editorial Manager.
Psychological Medicine publishes accepted articles online immediately upon readiness for publication and articles are collected into twelve issues a year. The journal features original articles reporting key research being undertaken worldwide, reviews and invited editorials by distinguished scholars.
