Did you know? Authors can now obtain an ORCID and record it in Editorial Manager

Question-markSo that journals can unambiguously identify Authors, Co-Authors, Editors, and Reviewers, EM v9.2 introduces the Contributor ID feature. This means that users who have registered an ORCID at https://orcid.org/register can enter it into their EM user record.

As functionality built into the next two releases of EM, Aries has implemented the ORCID API to “fetch” an existing ORCID and facilitate registration.

If you need help configuring this feature, please contact your Aries Account Coordinator, who will be happy to assist.

Version 9.2 release initiated in September

  • Hundreds of “People Flag” options
  • Custom status terms for display to Authors

  • More information about assignments in automated Editor reminder emails
  • Enhanced “Re-open Review” functionality to send reviews back to submitter
  • Manuscript Services link
  • Enhanced decision letter options
  • Table of contents headings

Aries customers, if you would like to be notified of upgrades for your journal and receive a copy of the comprehensive release notes, please contact Aries’ Customer Service Department.

Editorial Humors

This month’s Editorial Humors cartoon draws attention to ORCID, as Aries Systems, an ORCID Launch Partner, finalizes integration of EM and PM with the registry! (See “Did you know?” at the bottom of this newsletter.)

Despite the cartoon, please note that ORCID is pronounced “awr-kid,” as in the orchid flower.

Other Editorial Humors cartoons appeared in recent newsletters.

First EMUG Japan

EMUG-Japan2012Congratulations to Aries partner Atlas Co., Ltd for hosting the first Editorial Manager User Group Meeting ever held in Japan! The very successful event generated a substantial turnout of Atlas customers, who appreciated the in-depth EM and PM presentations and new release information.

Aries’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing Richard Wynne reports, “Japanese users actively engaged in the feature workshops and helped identify several useful new features. Thank you to Atlas for a great event and all your hospitality.”

 Attendees commented:
“It was a good opportunity for us to tell our opinion and requests directly to Atlas/Aries.”

“I enjoyed the Workshop very much! We usually don’t have much chance to talk with persons from other journals so EMUG J is a great opportunity for us.”
